Songbook – My Love Will Never Rest

This is part of my Songbook series…unfinished tracks right out of my songbook, as they’re written, to document the journey from concept to album track in my next CD. As with so many other songs, apparently for me, this one had it’s beginnings on the riding lawnmower. I was thinking “I really hate doing this” “There are so many better things I could be doing with me life right now.” etc. So of course I turned it into a reflective exercise as I am wont to do “So why do I do this? Why do I care what my lawnContinue readingSongbook – My Love Will Never Rest

Songbook – Open Wide

This is part of my Songbook series…unfinished tracks right out of my songbook, as they’re written, to document the journey from concept to album track in my next CD. This tune is in response to a series of conversations, revelations and otherwise concerning acceptance of GLBT individuals and couples, especially after reading this article and seeing some of the responses to that article in this video. Nobody deserves to be met with scorn for loving who they love. I wasn’t questioned or judged when I married Jenn so why should my friend John have had to fight for his rightContinue readingSongbook – Open Wide

Songbook – Breathing Grace

This is part of my Songbook series…unfinished tracks right out of my songbook, as they’re written, to document the journey from concept to album track in my next CD. This tune was a bit of a journey, and I’m uncertain whether I captured the essence of the thought sufficiently for others to get it upon a first listen. Regardless the idea is to personify the wind. Since we breathe air in and out it isn’t a large leap to assume that, if the wind were sentient, that it would take something of us with it as it passed through us.Continue readingSongbook – Breathing Grace

Songbook – I Let My Dandelions Grow

This is part of my Songbook series…unfinished tracks right out of my songbook, as they’re written, to document the journey from concept to album track in my next CD. I know I already did a blog post on this tune…but you didn’t get to hear it! It’s been a rough few months of anticipation for you, I’m sure. I thought I’d post this one to add a little fun to your summer; a tune to whistle while you spend all those hours pampering your lawn.     Here are the lyrics: Some people they put stock in funny things Like cars andContinue readingSongbook – I Let My Dandelions Grow

Songbook – Heroes

This is part of my Songbook series…unfinished tracks right out of my songbook, as they’re written, to document the journey from concept to album track in my next CD. I was having a discussion with a friend recently and through the course of it I got the sense that we all, no matter how good we are or try to be, end up wishing we were someone else at times. Maybe not forever, but just to take a break from ourselves…but I find there’s always something that pulls us back; the realization that we’re needed, just the way we are. I think we allContinue readingSongbook – Heroes
